Blaenau Gwent MP pledges to fight for constituency

Blaenau Gwent's MP Nick Smith has pledged to "fight for a better future" for his constituency in a House of Commons debate on the Queen's Speech.

Mr Smith also spoke about the need for jobs in Blaenau Gwent and said the finance in tourism and engineering that the Circuit of Wales racetrack could provide would be "game changing" in the south Wales valleys.

Wounded Monmouthshire solider takes on Help for Heroes 100-mile ride

Lee Matthews, 26, of Magor, now a veteran, will be taking part in Hero Ride 2015, Help for Heroes’ flagship national challenge in June this year.

Setting off from Help for Heroes Recovery Centre, Tedworth House, in Wiltshire, he will complete the 100-mile journey to Windsor in a day.

Sepp Blatter has been re-elected as Fifa president for a fifth term, chosen to lead world football despite separate US and Swiss criminal investigations into corruption.

The 209 Fifa member federations gave the 79-year-old another four-year term after Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan conceded defeat after losing 133-73 in the first round.

Prince Ali's promise of a clean break from Fifa's tarnished recent history was rejected despite the worst scandal in the organisation's 111-year history.
