THE four-day Rockfield Country Music festival saw more than 3,500 attend to listen to country music.

The festival featured more than 20 country music bands and artists with around 3,600 visitors taking the opportunity to attend the event held by the River Monnow.

As well as country musicians from the UK, the show also welcomed country acts from around the world.

This year the festival featured three acts from Holland and one from Sweden, as well as others from Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

Organiser Donna Crockett said: “This year has been great and the weather didn’t put anyone off. It’s a bit of a Glastonbury atmosphere with everyone donning wellies and just getting on with it during the showers.”

The event has grown steadily since the first festival in 2010 which attracted around 1,000 people, and in 2012, around 3,600 people went through the gates.

The numbers have remained at a high despite the festival being cancelled in 2013.

The Rockfield country music festival also provided entertainment for the all family.

Daily events included the fast-draw contests, rodeo bull machine, line-dancing lessons and wild west re-enactment shows.

People were also able to browse trade stands selling cowboy hats and boots, leather wear, crinoline dresses and accessories.

The festival is run by volunteers with all the profits going to the Victoria Eye Unit at Hereford County Hospital.
