ENTRIES are flooding in for our Great Outdoors photographic competition in conjunction with Western Power Distribution.

We've already received some fantastic images, and dozens of entries - keep them coming!

We have a series of cash prizes to give away to the amateur photographers who submit the winning, second and third placed photographs of our gorgeous Gwent outdoors.

Your pictures must show scenes from Gwent, and the theme is the outdoors. That could be landscapes, wildlife pictures, images of cityscapes or people in the Great Outdoors.

We will accept images in colour and mono. The choice is yours.

Our prizes, sponsored by Western Power Distrribution, are:

l First prize - £250

l Second prize - £150

l Third prize - £100

Digital images should be attached to an email as jpegs - around 1MB would be the ideal size - and sent to maria.williams@southwalesargus.co.uk.

Anyone submitting prints should be aware they will not be returned, and they must be sent by post to Maria Williams, News Editor, Great Outdoors Photographic Competition, Newsdesk, South Wales Argus, Cardiff Road, Newport NP20 3QN

We are looking for true images which are not manipulated, and the Argus will be printing a selection of entries and the eventual winners, where photographers will be credited in print. The images will also be uploaded to our website southwalesargus.co.uk, and photographers will be credited. Please assume that entry to the competition allows us to do so.

Please include with your entry the name, age, and a headshot photograph of the photographer, a daytime or mobile telephone number, where and when the image was taken. Entries from anyone under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a signed covering letter from a parent or guardian granting permission for us to feature the work.

The competition will be judged by Argus Chief Photographer Chris TInsley and a representative of Western Power Distribution. The judges' decision is final and normal Argus rules apply.

The deadline for entries is September 12. Judging will take place shortly afterwards and the results will be announced in the Argus in early October.
