AT LEAST £10,000 worth of goods were stolen, and damage done, after a Newport spa was broken into last weekend.

Staff at Health and Serenity Spa, in Clytha Park Road, got to work on Monday morning to find the whole place was a mess.

Twenty-eight-year-old Chanele Allen, Health and Serenity Spa’s marketing officer, said: “They didn’t take any beauty products, but the rooms were completely upside down.

“Apart from all the damage to the door and the rooms, they had taken the safe, four laptops, an ipad, speakers and cameras.

“They also took some cash.

“All together, it’ll easily come to at least £10,000.

“We feel our space has been violated.”

The burglars broke into the property through the back door and staff at the spa suspect that the offender – or offenders – must have slept in there as they found a cup of tea.

It was still a little bit warm when they got in.

One of the spa’s director, Katie Jones, 26, from Rogerstone, said: “I was one of the first ones in.

“It was quite scary as we didn’t know what else we were going to find.

“It makes our staff a little bit unease.”

The spa - which was broken into four years ago, but the damage was nowhere near to what happened this time - closed on Monday, but reopened on Tuesday.

“Our main priority is to get back to normal and serve our clients,” Ms Jones said. “We’ve managed to open because we’ve an extremely positive team.

“We're not victims, we've not let this affect us.

“After such a traffic event, we’ve managed to bounce back and pull everything together, which shows the level of commitment we have to our business and our clients.”

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “On September 19, we received reports of a break in at a premises along Clytha Park Road, Newport.

“The offence occurred sometime between 6pm on September 17 and 8am on September 19.

“Entry was gained by the offender or offenders by breaking a window on a door.

“If anyone has any information regarding this incident please call 101 quoting log number 95 19/09/2016.”
