Sam Lewis deal to Dragons off

The Ospreys have released the following information on Sam Lewis, reported to have signed with Newport Gwent Dragons.

"Despite reports elsewhere announcing a move to Newport Gwent Dragons, Sam Lewis has committed his future to the Ospreys.

"Lewis, who has played 42 games for the region, has signed a two-year deal that runs until the end of the 2015/16 season.

"He commented: “I am 100 per cent committed to the Ospreys and I’d like to apologise for any confusion caused by recent statements which coincided with a brief period of uncertainty on my part.

“However, I have signed a two-year contract to stay here at the Ospreys and I look forward to continuing to represent my home region as I continue to develop on and off the field.”

The Dragons had confirmed their own deal with Lewis on New Years Day.

If he had signed for the Dragons he's now in breach of contract and the costs of that must be paid to the Dragons. If he does not want to come then so be it but it shows his inability to live up to expected standards. Disappointing that such a promising player is not now coming but onward and upward.

Disappointing but so be it, sounds like the lad is in need of some better advice. Now there should be a bit more money for some props.
Very concerned that the new WRU proposal could pander to the greed of the other three regions and leave the Dragons out on a limb.

Don't think it's worth getting worked up about, it would appear everyone acted in good faith and the lad changed his mind, not ideal but no-one died.
lf, what is being widely reported, this new deal contains extra payments for international players, the unity of the regions could be blown apart and the Dragons could be out of business by the end of the season.
The regions with the most money would ignore the salary cap and buy in as many internationals as possible as they would be funded by the WRU.

Flabergasted by the lack of professionalism on all sides, but especially Ospreys and the "signing". He should not have been anywhere near another club's officers before he finally made his mind to move!
Poor job all round, move on and put the money towards a 'nasty' Prop.
Romania still have a decent set of lads up front, all they need is a good coach!
