'Massive win' says Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh
DELIGHTED Newport County AFC manager Justin Edinburgh hailed the thrilling 3-2 victory over promotion rivals Oxford United as a 'massive' win.
County came back from a goal down to lead 3-1 thanks to strikes from Rene Howe, Ryan Burge and Chris Zebroski and held on for three vital points despite Alfie Potter's late goal for the visitors.
It was County's first match at Rodney Parade since January 4 and their first win since Boxing Day.
Edinburgh's men are now just six points off the play-off places in League Two with three games in hand.
"It is a massive win but thoroughly deserved," said Edinburgh. " It is nice to be playing back at home, we have had five in six [game]away from home.
"I don't think people realise in our last 11 games that nine of them have been away from home. For where we are and the position we are in, I think the players have been fantastic.
"It has been a tough time for the football club and we have been laughed about but I see Crawley's game is off and I don't now whether they have had a letter from the Football League.
"It's just good to play here [home] in front of a fantastic crowd and have a fantastic performance."
