Newport 2 Scunthorpe 2

A DRAMATIC injury-time equaliser saw Newport County earn a deserved point against Scunthorpe at Rodney Parade.

County led through Lee Minshull's first half header, but the quality of the visitors showed after the break as Paddy Madden and David Syers put them ahead.

But Zebroski's firm finish in injury time earned Newport a point they thoroughly merited against the visitors who are now unbeaten in 18 games.

What an improvement. A great first half then we got cut to ribbons with 2 clinical finishes.
We were the better side. Why has Ryan Jackson not been the first pick every week, the boys superb. His throws are worth a free kick every time.
On the negative side Rene Howe is not hopefully going to get a look in. No danger/no pace. Byron And Adam were found wanting for pace again but played their heart out.
Ryan, Robbie, Lee, Yak & Zebroski were immense today.
Here' hoping for a bumper crowd Tuesday at a £5 anywhere think I will bring all the family.
A great point recovered today

Yes could not agree with more Harps, really looked up for it today, same old thing though we play good against good teams because they play football and let us play football, but when we get the spoilers here they seem to drag us down to their level.
I do hope someone at the club is going to give us an update on David Pipe and not treat us like mushrooms again, we are mostly grown up adults and should not be left to speculate, thus leaving the rumour brigade to spread false information, so come on County give it to us straight.

Much better team selection from Justin today. The whole team gave 100% effort today. Why Jacko hasn't been playing regular is quite puzzling.Disagree with you Harp62 on Rene Howe, thought he worked his socks off today and held the ball up well.

Sorry, but I disagree with you on Howe - I thought he had a good game, held the ball up really well and his work rate was good. You definitely need a physical presence up front, so he brings something different the table. If you'd asked me before the game "would you take a point now" I'd have said yes, but after the game I'm disappointed not to get all 3 after a game we dominated. Both Scunthorpe goals were against the run of play - it would have been completely unjust if we'd lost the game, just glad we dug in and showed character to grab a late equaliser. Pleased to see Jacko back, thought he played well but unsung fans hero Minsh just shaded MOM ahead of Yak for me. If that's the best League Two has to offer, then we've nothing to fear. Great performance, just a shame it didn't garner the three points it deserved. Pipe down doom mongers - that was an established side that was in the Championship not so long ago that we outplayed today

Listening to big Tim I got the impression that Minshull was everywhere. At half time I even found him in my kitchen. Fantastic play by County, cheered me up no end. Is this the start of something good ?. No Santa's grotto today .More like the fortress we all want. Well County. keep it up.

Superb, well deserved point today. All of us who said Jackson and Minshull should play and Wilmott should return to left wing back were well and truly vindicated, but I still think Byron has been brought back too soon. Thought Porter, whom I have criticised many times, was excellent in a more forward role in place of Chapman. But can we keep it going now?

minshull was my man of the match today.

great first half showing and showed guts to get a point .

my only reservation is the sloppy goals conceded. cut that out and county will be a force again .

and my only other gripe is the constant talking about play offs and promotion , lets secure league two status first and foremost.county are
not displaying promotion / play off form , and all this constant chat of making the playoffs is heaping too much pressure on the lads.

on this form they will struggle to get to the play offs , they need a run like PLYMOUTH who have come from nowhere to put the pressure on SOUTHEND and county are nowhere near that kind of form at present

but good initiative to get rodney parade full on tuesday against FLEETWOOD. county fans NO EXCUSES get over the PARADE !

Rather start with Christian despite his lack of goals.

I sincerely think that County garnered a most important point yesterday against a strong Scunthorpe team who are currently second in the table with the second best goals in favour and with the least defeats, 4, in League 2.

Coming from two successive home defeats, County managed to offer an impeccable first half and after forging ahead, conceded two goals but managed to equalise in injury time.

I do not agree that aiming for the play-offs would put undue pressure on the County lads and yesterday our boys showed to one and all that they believed in themselves up to the very end, including injury time.

County have still 3 games in hand with most of the teams preceeding them in the table and Southend, occupying 7th place are seven points ahead.

Tuesday's match against Fleetwood is also a crucial match - we will be hosting yet again one of the teams contending a place in the play-offs.

Always behind JE and boys, yes, we can still make it happen.

the point i am trying to make is that the constant talk of reaching the play offs with 3 games in hand bla bla with a run of 1 win 3 draws and 6 defeats behind the team is putting unnecessary pressure on the team.

PLYMOUTH on the other hand have come from nowhere banging 4 or 5 goals a game and are now only 2 point behind a play off spot.

securing the prized place in league 2 should be a priority , and also factoring the terrible state of the pitch and the majority of the games being at home a promotion push seem more unlikely.

but i hope im proved wrong :0

..... 3 hands in hand bla bla bla with a run of 1 win 3 draws and 6 defeats..... and "I hope im proved wrong". Sheer inconsistency my dear County friend.

I feel sure JE wouldn't want you at all in the dressing room prior to any match. The way forward for County is to try and win matches, that's what football players aim and that's what managers instil in the players' minds.

We should aim for higher positions in order not to stabilise ourselves in midtable or further down.

We both support County heartily and both wish the best to our team ... UTC

I tend to agree with Countyvoice but it's not so much the pressure it puts on the team which must obviously strive for every point, but the pressure it puts on fans expectations. I have mixed feelings about whether promotion this season would be a long term blessing to County but would obviously grab it with both hands if it happens. If we, the supporters, get too carried away with the idea we get too disappointed when the team fails to perform. We are in a transitional period, learning about life in league football, so let's hope for the best but accept with equanimity the reality of the situation. Great result under the circumstances yesterday.

Howe was awful. Zeb was getting frustrated with him being out of position throughout the second half. His link-up play is awful. Their centre back had him in his pocket all game. He hardly jumps! He didn't win one header, not that he bothered even challenging. As for hold-up play, even with a ball to feet he was stripped of possession taking the sting out of our build up before we even got bodies up the field to support. When Jolley came on the flow of the game improved considerably, our attack was far more dynamic. I appreciate his role, but he doesn't perform it to the required standard.

Exactly how I feel.
Christian hasn't come good yet, maybe he has been found out at this level but until O'Connor returns "IF" it does give us variety up front. Think Zeb would prefer him as his forward front runner.
