WALES netball captain Suzy Drane admitted she was disappointed with a crushing defeat to England but she says her side is still on target to meet their Glasgow goals.

Wales, featuring Pontllanfraith goal attack Cara Lea Moseley, were no match for the English who strolled to a 65-25 victory.

It follows a 63-36 defeat to Australia on day one of the Commonwealth Games for Wales but Drane is remaining positive.

“It was a tough game today,” she said. “We had some clear targets that we wanted to hit and we’re going to go into a debrief session now to see if we’ve done that.

“We always knew it was going to be tough, as with Australia yesterday, but we’re probably a bit more disappointed coming off the court today.”

Drane admits that the team must now beat Trinidad & Tobago tomorrow, Barbados on Monday and, most difficult of all, South Africa on Tuesday.

“We knew that these two games were going to set us up for the remaining four group and classification games and we need a few wins,” she said.

“We need to win the next three in order to stay on course for our target of a top-five finish.

“We always knew it would be tough but we believe top-five is a realistic target.”
