NEWPORT’S Emily Evans and Jordan Maule have only been competing together since January but later this month they will go for gold at the British Figure Skating Championships.

Emily, 10, and Jordan, 14, will represent Cardiff Ice Skating Club in Sheffield, skating in the basic novice dance category.

The duo train for around 12 hours on the ice each week and two hours off it under the guidance of an experienced coaching trio.

Coaching them at Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff are former British champion and European and world championship skater Julie Keeble, ice dance expert Lucy Strange and free skating mentor Dmitry Sukhanov, the 1989 pairs world junior champion.

More than 150 skaters will travel to Ice Sheffield to compete in the NISA British championships, which run from November 28 to December 4.
