RIDOUT (Eric Floyd) The death has occurred of Eric Floyd Ridout, late of Bedwas, Cwmbran and Malpas. Eric worked for the Health Service all his life until he retired in 1988. He did his training as S.R.N. in Liverpool, having completed two years National Service in the R.A.F. He worked in Alder Hey Hospital Liverpool, where he was appointed Charge Nurse. He and Mary married in 1951 and later they moved back to his native Bedwas. He became Theatre Superintendent in Caerphilly Miner's Hospital and worked there for some years. He was then appointed manager of the first Central Sterile Supplies Dept. in the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, where he was responsible for South Wales and West of England hospitals. In 1996, Eric, his wife, and daughter, moved to Killarney, Southern Ireland. Eric was a home loving man and enjoyed taking his seven children to football, rugby, music lessons etc. He had a great love of music, both trombone and piano accordion. For 15 years, he voluntarily worked as 'Group Nurse' taking care of local handicapped children on pilgrimage to Lourdes and continued to travel to Lourdes as a pilgrim after taking up residence in Ireland. He was an active member of S.P.U.C and Pro-life in Wales and Ireland. Eric will be remembered fondly by family and friends, especially his wife Mary, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, by his sister Anne, nieces and nephews. Eric was buried on the 23rd Dec. 2011 in Ireland. His family sang 'Calon Ian' and 'Danny Boy' at his graveside. Rest peacefully Eric - you deserve it. God Bless!
