ARGUS COMMENT: A tragic mystery

WE really feel for Wayne and Rosemary Yendle who have faced a terrible battle to try and discover what killed their son Ieuan.

The 13-year-old, from Pill, Newport, lost his mobility, speech, sight and the ability to eat over a three-year period.

No tests have ever identified the illness that claimed his life.

Now his parents hope experts in America may be able to say what it was.

It’s terrible when any parent loses a child.

But to lose one in these circumstances makes it all the more unbearable.

The Yendles have not had any closure since Ieuan died and must face a daily nightmare wondering what killed their son.

We wish them well in their new search for clues and hope American experts will now provide them with the answers they deserve.

And we hope their charity night at Pill Harriers Rugby Club on March 4 is a success and raises plenty of money for the five charities Mr and Mrs Yendle are now supporting in their son’s memory.
