Return Royals to Germany
IN REPLY to Mrs Jackie Davies (Argus June 11) take your head out of those romantic clouds. You are right that Diana was, as far as the Royals were concerned, a baby-making machine whilst Charlie boy was having his bit on the side. read more

Royals are as good as any
I would imagine like the majority of younger people across the UK the only time we ever care for or take notice of the Royal Family is when they are either on the front pages of the press or when they are taking up television primetime slots. read more

Strong police force is vital
THE public have the right to expect the best possible service from their police force and to have police officers visible and effective on our streets. Perhaps the coalition see no reason to be too concerned in London, but I would hope that isn’t the case in Wales. I had a powerful impression reading her Argus letter of June 8, that Gwent Police’s chief constable, Carmel Napier, is concerned that the service is not as good as she’d like it to be. Love doesn’t respect gender
AND just where exactly did people get the notion that same-sex union is ‘unnatural’ and worthy of intervention and exclusion from society? I think we all know the answer to that one. THE Conservative Party during the general election campaign, and later in coalition government with the Liberal Democrats, rejected the view that the UK’s problems were mainly due to the geo-political and financial difficulties particular to western economies. read more

Civic Centre resident?
I WAS rather intrigued to discover that the Cardiff-based musician elected to represent St Julians has moved from his home in Rhiwbina to take up residence at the Civic Centre. Is the Civic Centre now being used as temporary accommodation, a type of halfway-house, so that councillors can avail themselves of the very comfortable facilities? read more

Cash spent on moving bin
EARLIER on in the year, I wrote about the lack of benches at the Glebelands recreational park. read more

Queen of the Commonwealth
PLAID Cymru and its members hasn’t got a monopoly on republicanism. Apart for the Conservative Party, there are republic minded people within the ranks of both the Labour Party and Liberal Party. There are thousands of people living in England who are anti royalist, but are not members of Plaid Cymru. One day when Wales becomes independent we could be the same as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and have the Queen head of the Commonwealth. read more
