Caldicot school earns staff development award

STAFF at Caldicot School are celebrating after receiving a Quality Mark for their work on staff development.

The award recognises the school’s commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of its staff, in order to ensure pupils are exposed to the very latest thinking in teaching and learning.

The Quality Mark assesses the school against 253 criteria, of which 92 per cent were awarded an A grade.

Assistant head teacher, Simon Rees, said: “We are delighted that an external body, recognised by school inspectorates Estyn and Ofsted have judged the quality of our provision so highly.

“We will join just three other schools in Wales who have been successful in obtaining the award, so this is a significant recognition of our hard work.”

The accolade follows on from two of the school’s teachers, Alan Potter and Andrew Jones, winning distinctions in the national Pearson Teaching Awards recently.
