SUCCESS AT THE ROYAL WELSH SHOW: Neville and Amanda Redman, of Waun Street, Blaenavon, are celebrating after their 9-year-old stallion, Whitson Redearr, pictured, won first prize in the traditional in-hand class at the Royal Welsh Show, in Llanelwedd, recently.
SWISS ADVENTURE: A friend of ours recently brought an old South Wale Argus photograph into our shop to show us. Although we have known him for many years, we didn't know that, as a child of six, he had been sent away to Switzerland to convalesce.

IT'S FESTIVAL TIME: Blaenavon Traders and Tourism Association are organising the opening concert of the Blaenavon Spring Festival, at Blaenavon Workmen's Hall, where one of the world's leading harpists, Catrin Finch, appears there on Saturday, May 5, at 7.30pm. Blaenavon Male Voice Choir will also bring their usual high standard of singing to the occasion.
