Professional advisory firm Broomfield & Alexander, which has an office in Newport, has announced its merger with W R King & Co, the largest independent firm of accountants in Neath.

Three directors and seven members of staff from WR King & Co will join the team at Broomfield & Alexander. The turnover of the merged firm will be approximately £5.5m with a combined staff count in excess of 100.

Ian Thomas, managing director at Broomfield & Alexander, said: “The merger is a key part of our strategy to be the leading independent firm in accountancy, audit and professional services in South Wales – offering our client base the same range of specialist services as national firms, but with a strong local delivery. We are delighted to welcome WR King & Co’s directors, Gareth Edwards, James Dobson and Roger Dobson, who will be joining us as part of the merger.”

Gareth Edwards, co-Managing Director at WR King & Co., which was established in 1952, said: “The combined firm has a wide range of specialists allowing us to provide the breadth and depth of expertise to meet the increasingly diverse range of challenges facing businesses in Wales today. We are very much looking forward to working with our new colleagues.”
