Former Welsh international rugby star Garin Jenkins was guest of honour at rugby -loving Kiwa Watertec at the opening of its new purpose-built test laboratory in Ebbw Vale.

Kiwa Watertec, which was formerly Kiwa Quality Services, tests and certifies all types of products which come into contact with water, including taps, showers and pipes.

The firm, which was also celebrating the 10th anniversary of it becoming Kiwa Watertec, welcomed customers, colleagues and management to its new site on the Rassau Industrial Estate, Ebbw Vale, for the occasion.

Previously located at three separate premises at the Innovation Centre, Ebbw Vale, the new laboratory has a larger floor space than the previous locations enabling the company, which employs 10 people, to expand its services.

Clive Hawkes, technical manager at Kiwa Watertec, said: “As rugby fanatics we are delighted that Garin Jenkins has agreed to join our customers, team and Dutch management at the opening of the new Kiwa Watertec laboratory. The new premises will enable us to carry out a wider range of services in an efficient manner as we will be in one location, purpose built for our needs.”
