South Wales Argus editor Kevin Ward will be chairing a 'Question Time' style debate at this month's digital Tuesday event, which takes place this evening at the Celtic Manor Resort.

The panel will be made up of experts from business, education, training providers and voluntary organisations.

They will be discussing whether the success of any organisation lies in the skills of its people and when it comes to digital technologies there is a growing skills deficit.

Panel members are:

John Holvey, Alacrity Foundation – an experienced CTO who has an involvement as a mentor to the start ups within the Alacrity Foundation, is advising the new Software University and has recently run an innovate boot camp producing productive junior software developers in six weeks;

Chris Gabriel, Logicalis – CTO of a Welsh IT services company will share his positive experiences in recruiting a highly-skilled IT workforce as well as give his views on the digital skills needed to turn digital natives into digital explorers to become a new breed of xT Technologists;

Dave Sadler, Acorn – has been working with the recruitment challenges faced by employers in a scarce skills market while Acorn are maximising the apprenticeship and jobs growth Wales programmes to bring new talent to the market

Nick Wainwright, HP Labs - based in Bristol, HP's biggest cyber and cloud lab in the world. At the forefront of innovation Nick is more than aware of the changing landscape and the skills required for the future;

Ceri Ann Clark, Cadoxton Primary School – some of current scarce skills challenges facing us are from changes to the education system 20 years ago. Ceri-Ann is working to ensure the children of today are suitably skilled to become the employees of tomorrow;.

Jackie Harris, University of South Wales – education is often criticised as delivering young people who do not fit employers' needs. Jackie is at the forefront of trying to deliver work ready graduates in the challenging environment of a technology base that changes by the day.

We are also pleased to announce that the first drink of the networking session will be sponsored by Stratum. Stratum, (formerly e-academy), have trained thousands of IT professionals in Wales over the last 15 years. They cover a wide range of skills and technologies needed to support the digital economy.

The event will take place at the Chairman's Marquee, The Lodge, Celtic Manor, today starting at 5pm.
