Kiwa UK, which owns Kiwa Watertec in Ebbw Vale, a leading test laboratory for products in contact with water, such as showers and taps, has appointed a new CEO responsible for its UK businesses.

Brian Austin, an experienced business leader particularly in the aerospace and engineering sectors, will be responsible for driving the Kiwa business forwards with the aim of doubling its value by 2020.

Latterly director Europe at a USA corporation, where he was responsible for all corporate activity in Europe and focused on the oil and gas, power generation, aerospace and defence sectors, Brian began his career as a mechanical engineering graduate trainee with Babcock International.

Kiwa has more than 1,400 employees in more than 30 offices in nine European countries and employs 100 people in the UK, based at five ‘centres of excellence’ which, as well as Kiwa Watertec in Ebbw Vale, include Kiwa Gastec, Europe’s leading centre of expertise on gas and solid fuel appliance testing based in Cheltenham, Kiwa Blackwood, an established EMC and electrical safety laboratory, Kiwa CMT in Derby, experts in construction materials testing, and Kiwa PAI in Harrogate, a leading food and agriculture certification company.
