A multi-million pound entertainment complex due to launch in Cardiff city centre this February has made its first key appointment.

Newport-born Karen Self, who used to manage Megabowl in Newport, will head up the new Cardiff Superbowl family entertainment centre, which will offer £1.6m worth of state-of-the art bowling and Laser Quest facilities when it opens at Stadium Plaza next month.

Karen will lead a team of more than 20 staff as centre manager, appointed to bring bowling into the 21st century through the provision of cutting edge technology and an additional diner and modern bar at the 22,000 sq ft site.

Adding to the 14-screen Vue multiplex cinema and gym already operating within the entertainment venue, Karen says she is looking forward to bringing a sport first devised in Edwardian times into a new era, through its integration into a key city centre leisure hotspot.

Karen brings more than 14 years’ experience to the role having managed ten-pin bowling centres in Newport, Bristol and Gloucester previously.
