One of South Wales’ leading law firms is hosting a seminar on the legal challenges surrounding the use of technology in the workplace at Tredegar House, later this month.

HardingEvans will host the seminar titled ‘Age Old Problems in a Modern World’, aimed at business owners, HR directors, managers and personnel, on April 29.

The seminar will focus on common problems arising from the ever increasing use of modern technology including employees own devices at work, social media, emails and data usage and storage. It will focus on protecting business reputations and on the ever blurring line between an employees personal and work based online presence.

It will also look closely at examples of common disciplinary issues which commonly arise as a result of the misuse of technology and social media.

Daniel Wilde from HardingEvans said: “With technology and social media increasingly becoming more prominent in the workplace with regards to personal use and as part of companies’ marketing strategies, we are hosting this seminar to advise employers and staff on the various legal challenges that exist.

“With the recent decision to remove three judges for viewing pornography on office computers at work, the subject is particularly timely and we are hoping that we will be able to clear up the various issues surrounding protected data, own devices, social media and out of work behaviour .”
