A charity bike ride organised by Gwent-headquartered recruitment specialists Centric Recruitment has raised more than £6,000 to help a Newport boy left severely brain damaged at birth.

More than 20 local businesses took part in the 55-mile trek from Brecon to Cardiff in aid of Casey’s Cause – an appeal set-up to raise money for four-year-old Casey Hard, from Coedkernew, who was born with severe epilepsy, cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia after being starved of oxygen at birth.

This was the charity second bike ride organised by Centric Recruitment and in June the company, which has offices in Pontypool, Newport, Cardiff, Pontypridd and Swansea, will stage a charity golf day at the Celtic Manor Resort, where it hopes to raise even more money for Casey’s Cause.

Dave Matthews, operations director at Centric Recruitment, said: “All of us have been touched by Casey and his family’s story. They’re a real inspiration and it’s been a great honour for us to help by fundraising to support Casey’s Appeal.

“When we began organising the bike ride we spoke to a number of our clients across South Wales and the response from them was huge. We’d like to thank them all for taking part and helping support such a fantastic cause.”
