Jon Bowkett, a board member of Newport County AFC, is set to be the speaker at the next meeting of the City of Newport Business Club on November 26.

The event will take pace at the Celtic Manor Resort, a new base for the club which held its first meeting 18 years ago at the hotel.

Mr Bowkett has had a long involvement with Newport County.

Newport County is currently 21st in League Two and is playing Brackley Town at home tomorrow (Tuesday, November 17) in an FA Cup first round replay.

A spokesman for the City of Newport Business Club said: "Jon is well placed to provide an insight to the latest developments at our local football club and to share how he has put his business knowledge and experience to good use as part of the management committee."

Dan Goulding, the new chairman of the business club, said: “This is an exciting time for Newport County and for the business club. We look forward to welcoming members old and new to the Celtic Manor Resort to hear what Jon has to say and to meet and network with other local business people."
