A family-owned boutique in Abergavenny picked up the prize for Best Occasion Wear at the recent Welsh National Wedding Awards.

Baroque Boutique, on Cross Street, Abergavenny, specialises in designer wear for mother of the bride / groom, bridesmaids and wedding guests.

It is run by mother and daughter duo, Marion Challoner and Coryn Emma.

Coryn said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win the regional and national award for Best Occasion Wear. We really love what we do and we are lucky to work with some amazing people. Our business is going from strength to strength.”

The previous year the pair picked up the award for Best New Wedding Business and over the last 12 months they have already noticed a big increase in sales.

An £10bn pounds is spent in the UK wedding industry every year according to a study completed by hitched.co.uk in 2011.

Thousands of small companies work hard to win new business. The competition is fierce, the industry is seasonal and the opportunity for repeat business is minimal.

Many wedding businesses do not have the time or budget to invest in marketing and brides and grooms are constantly searching for trusted suppliers.

To help these businesses receive the recognition they deserve, JR Events launched the Welsh National Wedding Awards in 2011.

This year the awards ceremony took place at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.
