A Pontypool company has been involved with helping the 50th anniversary celebrations of a British motoring classic.

Edward Davies Commercials' assembly plant in Pontypool was the base for the conversion of the new Ford Transit M Sport.

In celebration of 50 years of production of the Transit, the top-of-the-range M Sport is the brainchild of motoring enthusiast Edward Davies, of Edward Davies Commercials.

Over the years, Edward has designed and developed bespoke van conversions for sports enthusiasts.

This is the first volume vehicle production facility in Wales for many years with an average of 50 being shipped out a month since Edward turned his design skills to the Transit roughly a year ago and they started rolling off the production line in September.

He designed the M Sport range in conjunction with a specialist car accessories manufacturer in Poland.

As well as the design, Edward has taken on the conversion assembly of the M Sport from his purpose-built assembly plant in Pontypool.

Since launching, vehicle demand has been phenomenal with an order book stretching out throughout this year.

Leading Newport-based independent chartered accountants Kilsby & Williams acted as accountants and tax advisors to Edward and his company.

Edward predicts that the Ford Connect M Sport, which is due to enter production shortly, is a great new conversion which is likely to be as big a seller as the transit.
