Newport-based fashion accessories brand Lola and Me has launched a Crowdfunder campaign in a bid to get girls around the world into school.

Lola and Me was set up in 2011 when creative director Heidi Louise Griffiths, after years in the London fashion industry, completed a short course in printing at Central St Martins, in London, swiftly followed by a travelling sabbatical across Asia and Australia.

While gaining inspiration abroad ideas started to form and by 2013 a range of handmade products were developed with contemporary prints designed in-house and sold online via the firm's website and Not on the High Street.

Heidi said: "The Lola and Me #ForWomankind Crowdfunder campaign is focused on giving girls the opportunity for an education.

"We believe that every child deserves the right to learn using education as a valuable tool to end poverty for good.

"Through their schooling, we can lower the risk of poverty, human trafficking and child marriage, and give all women

and girls the chance to conquer their dreams with the experience and tools they need.

"Lola and Me is a profit with purpose company and the range of unique, handmade items available through our #ForWomankind campaign highlight the fun, fashion forward thinking that our brand is known for. Available through a range of price points, backers can select an artisan item that is stylishly supportive and encourages ethical employment.”

In 2015, and after being joined by business director Jon Dawkins, the company was ready to develop further with the intention of tackling some well-known problems in the fast fashion industry, including fair wages and ethical working.

Heidi said: "Knowing the business would always hold its people before profit status, education of young girls is and will remain an integral part of day-to-day work in the company. With this said, after 18 months of planning and research the new direction Lola and Me is ready to place

its stamp firmly on the fashion industry."
