Gavel Auctioneers Ltd has expanded into new premises at Cwmtillery Industrial Estate, after a £325,000 investment.

The new 30,000 sq ft auction centre will provide new company headquarters with additional space to store and exhibit the wide range of machinery and business assets available for auction.

From leaving their roles in a large London/Leeds-based firm and deciding to take the plunge by starting their own firm back on home turf in 2012, owners Gerald and Thomas Cole both RICS Chartered Surveyors and RICS Registered Valuers of Machinery and Business Assets have driven the business through rapid growth year on year with headquarters in South Wales and opening offices in London and Halifax.

Gerald Cole, managing director at Gavel Auctioneers Ltd, said: “Moving to the new site will allow the continued evolution of our business enabling us to deliver a first-class service to both our clients and buyers. We are two of only two hundred RICS registered valuers in the UK who specialise in Machinery and Business Assets and are able to deliver accredited Red Book valuations that can be relied upon.

"We deliver a complete service to insolvency practitioners and are qualified to value and dispose of machinery and business assets, intellectual property and real estate."

Thomas Cole, company director, said: “By taking a proactive approach and understanding the needs of our clients and the specific requirements of each instruction, our client base of insolvency practitioners has grown rapidly.

"Our professional standards, ethos and boutique nature is focused on devoting and applying the same level of meticulous attention to detail to all sizes and types of instructions.

"The tenfold increase in the size of our new HQ allows us to run simultaneous online auctions by bringing together similar assets from smaller insolvent businesses across the UK where an on-site disposal would not be financially viable and may not return maximum realisation to creditors. I believe our USP is the ability to provide the combination of both RICS Regulated professional valuation and disposal advice to insolvency practitioners and the capability to maximize asset realisations for instructions of all sizes using our in-house auction centre, it is the whole package.”

Anne Winfield, Barclays business manager, said: “By really understanding the business and the industry sector, Barclays has been able to provide a funding package in addition to a substantial investment from the directors to support Gavel Auctioneers Ltd throughout this exciting expansion. A £325,000 investment in the new premises demonstrates both Barclays and Gavel Auctioneers Ltd confidence in the continued growth and success of the business. With a combined 60 years’ experience in the industry the team are able to combine experience with new ideas, creating a modern vibrant business from a very traditional industry.”
