Magazine printer Pensord, based in Pontllanfraith for the past 47 years, has landed the latest in a string of awards, winning Customer Service Team of the Year in the UK print industry’s flagship awards given by the key industry title PrintWeek,

This latest accolade is particularly welcome for a company focused on delivering outstanding support and added value for publishers, a publisher-centric approach that is key to their success.

The judges concluded that Pensord is: “A great business with a great strategy. They seem to put their people first which in turn encourages their people to put the customer first.” They were impressed by the printer’s attention to detail, with initiatives such as inviting staff throughout the business to put themselves in the shoes of their clients, resulting in reduced delays and all processes running to the highest possible standards.

Pensord CEO, Darren Coxon said: “We’ve been an award winner in the past, even picking up the UK Print Company of the Year, but this one is particularly gratifying, as our business lives or dies on our customer service. Technology enables printers to compete on quality and price, but it’s so important to nurture close relationships with publishers, and I’m really pleased to see our team get the industry recognition they deserve.”

Pensord print the PrintWeek magazine, and editor and publisher Darryl Danielli said: “It goes without saying that if it had been our choice and not the team of judges Pensord would still have won because we live and breathe the team’s customer service prowess week in week out.”

Earlier this year Pensord secured more than £3m funding to expand into new industry markets and invest in new equipment to drive efficiency. Pensord prints around 400 regular magazine titles, and employs some 150 people in the Gwent Valleys.
