More and more people grab a bite to eat at their desk each lunchtime according to research.

Business Argus asked local business people what they do for lunch, and what they would have for their 'dream' lunch if they could...

Gemma Johnsey Plumley, marketing manager, Johnsey Estates, Mamhilad Park Estates, Pontypool

Salads, soup or sandwich for lunch. My dream lunch is a warm goats cheese salad.

Gemma Carter, community fundraiser, Newport/Monmouth with St David’s Hospice Care

I normally have something quite simple and a bit boring like a sandwich and crisps or soup and some bread and butter. I do treat myself to a sandwich from Subway every so often. Oh wow, the possibilities are endless for my dream lunch - authentic Italian pizza overlooking the canals in Venice!

Erin Davies, M4 Property Consultants, Newport

I generally try to make my lunch the night before, and it’s usually a concoction of veg/fruit snacks, nuts, quinoa salad or a chicken wrap. I’ve learned that buying lunch out while hungry, is dangerous for my insides and bank account. However, we do always buy lunch on a Friday – Fresh Start in Caerleon provides delicious and full to capacity baguettes. My ‘dream lunch’ would probably include seafood and would be enjoyed sea-side.

John Newell, director, Kingston Newell Estate Agents, Newport

I tend to eat on the move in-between appointments. My dream lunch would be and is as often as possible in the Coast restaurant, Saundersfoot. It’s almost worthwhile just driving down there for lunch as the food is that good.

Jakko Brouwers, director, Morrello Clinic, Newport

Lunch is usually prepared at home and brought into work. I try to eat healthily as often as possible. Work commitments don’t allow the luxury of eating out at lunchtime but on the rare occasions I do, I am partial to the lunch menu at The Ridgeway.

Matt Trevett, director, TMPR Marketing Communications, Newport

I go to Wrens Bakery on Caerleon Road when I can. If I’m in the area and feeling particularly hungry, I will pay a visit to Lush the Butchers in Penarth and buy one of their hot filled rolls. They offer a selection of roast meat fillings and contain enough meat to feed a family! Today, I’ve brought in a chocolate cake as a treat for my colleagues made by Izzy my seven year old daughter yesterday.
