FINANCIAL services firm Kymin is looking at diversifying after staging a charity tea and home-cooked cakes event.

The Bridge Street, Newport business says it could be a safe investment after their offices were swamped during the six hour coffee and tea morning in support of the Argus’ 125 Appeal in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.

Kymin Managing Director Robin Hall said: “There’s clearly a healthy market out there for a nice cup of tea and a nice slice of home-cooked sponge cake.

“Our office was filled with people throughout the day and we raised £ 375 which we will donate to the Argus’ 125 Appeal in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.”

The coffee, tea and cake event was staged at Kymin’s office at 35 Bridge Street, Newport, on St David’s Day, Wednesday, March 1, between 10am and 2pm.

Organiser and cake baker Heather Hughes, of Kymin, said: “The response to the event was fantastic. The home-made cakes just flew off the plates!”

The South Wales Argus, which celebrates 125 years of publication in 2017, is recruiting 125 fundraising teams to help raise money during their anniversary year for the Gwent-based St David’s Hospice Care.

Emma Saysell, Chief executive of St David’s Hospice Care said: “It’s wonderful that businesses, such as Kymin as well as other organisations and individuals, are really getting behind the Argus’ 125 appeal.”

South Wales Argus Business Editor Jo Barnes said: “The 125 Appeal, which is a celebration of 125 years of publication of the South Wales Argus, is a perfect opportunity for businesses to pledge to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care to continue its tremendous work throughout our community. I’m looking forward to sampling the Kymin chocolate cake.”
