BUSINESS people may want to make more time for themselves in 2017 but a new survey reveals that, in many cases, that isn't happening.

The survey was undertaken at the South East Wales Business Show, which took place at Chepstow Racecourse.

It found that business people still do not have a real balance between the hours they put into their work and the time they take off.

It was carried out by NLP trainer and master coach Dr Bridget Kirsop and her team at One Life Coaching.

Around a hundred business owners, company directors and self-employed people were asked to rate ten questions about their mindset for business.

Dr Kirsop said: "The vast majority of people who responded said that they did not have a work-life balance which suited their lifestyle."

Dr Kirsop said: “The health of people running their businesses is being directly affected by people’s conflict between being successful and relaxing. Most of my clients are business owners who have forgotten to live in line with their values for their life and business and are getting overwhelmed and then take no action which then becomes a revolving circle.

"This leads to loss of confidence and has a direct effect on relationships at home and in the business”

She said: "Only with a fit and healthy mind are you able to build a flourishing business and reach the goals and targets you have set for it.

"Without being clear and positive mentally, you will always be stumbling over that first hurdle in your race to reach your targets which will slow you up and mean those goals will take longer to achieve.

"This is why surveys of this kind, to discover the issues facing business owners and directors in 2017, are crucial so that their problems can be resolved for a successful future."
