A Monmouth opticians has raised £121.25 for T? Hafan, the Welsh children’s hospice.

An event, held at Specsavers on Monnow Street, saw money raised for the charity by staff by hosting a cake sale, emoji face painting and giving customers the opportunity to create their very own glasses.

Customers who had their glasses repaired at the store were also encouraged to donate to T? Hafan.

Emily-Anne Frost, store director in Monmouth, said: ‘It was a really fun day and great to see so many people getting involved and enjoying themselves.

‘We have proudly supported T? Hafan throughout the year and this event was another exciting way for us to engage with the community and raise funds for such a worthy cause.

‘The popularity of the event has been reflected in the amount raised, a great step towards our ambitious goal of raising £1000 for the hospice’.

The Monmouth store, along with 36 other Specsavers stores in south and mid Wales, has been fundraising for T? Hafan since September 2016.

T? Hafan cares for life-limited children and young people, and provides vital support to their families, both within the hospice and through its community outreach programme. Since 1999, it has supported 689 children across Wales, 263 of which are currently under its care.
