A number of businesses from Gwent have been shortlisted for the 2017 Welsh Hospitality Awards, which will celebrate the hard work of the best professionals and businesses in the Welsh hospitality industry.

This is the second year the awards have been staged. Winners will be announced at an event in Cardiff in November.

There are 30 categories of the awards, each with a number of finalists. Here are the most local ones: Family Venue of the Year - Big Pit National Coal Museum (Torfaen); Best Day Out - Winding House (New Tredegar) and Green Meadow Community Farm (Cwmbran); Sports Venue of the Year - Rodney Parade Limited (Newport); Shopping Complex of the Year - Friars Walk Shopping Centre (Newport), Cwmbran Shopping Centre (Cwmbran) and Festival Park (Ebbw Vale); Children’s Play Centre of the Year - Kingdom Come (Abergavenny); Best Cinema Experience - The Market Hall Cinema (Ebbw Vale); Best Sports Bar - Man of Gwent (Newport); Best Bar - Merlins Bar (Newport), PA Wine Bar (Ebbw Vale) and Morgans Wine Bar (Ebbw Vale); Pub/Inn of the Year (South East) - The Old Nags Head (Monmouth); City Hotel of the Year - The Manor House Hotel at Celtic Manor (Newport); Resort Hotel of the Year - Ramada Resort Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel & Spa (Llangybi) and The Manor House Hotel at Celtic Manor (Newport); Hotel of the Year (South East) - Parkway Hotel & Spa (Cwmbran), Maes Manor Hotel (Blackwood) and Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel & Spa (Caerphilly); Best Hotel General Manager - Simon Daniel at Ramada Resort Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel & Spa (Llangybi); Customer Service Team of the Year - Parkway Hotel & Spa (Cwmbran); Best Caravan Site - Pandy Caravan Club Site (Abergavenny); Bed & Breakfast of the Year (South East) - Celtic Guest Houses (Llanmartin) and Castle Acre (Abergavenny); Best Family Dining Restaurant - The Stonemill Restaurant (Monmouth); Restaurant of the Year (South East) - Gemelli (Newport), Shoboraj (Newport) and Villa Dino (Newport); Best Restaurant Team - Gemelli (Newport).
