Three raglan football teams have been given a funding boost by securing sponsorship from a trio local businesses.

The newly-formed U7, U8, and under 9s have gained new kit sponsorsor.

The under 8s have gained sponsorship from one of Monmouthshire's leading oil suppliers Oilfast UK.

Based in Raglan, the firm has signed a two-year deal with the club.

Rupert Mills, director of Oilfast, said he is delighted to support a growing and progressive community club, which is getting children out in the fresh air on a weekly basis.

He said: "The sponsorship coincides with development in our own business changing from Fast Fuels to Oilfast UK so it was a great opportunity not to be missed."

The U7 team has gained the support of local builder John and Kirsty Powell of JP Powell Construction.

John said: "It's great to be supporting grassroots football in the village I have grown up in. The club is laying the foundations of the future for boys and girls in the village."

The under 9s have also secured the sponsorship for two years from one of Wales' main photocopier and telecoms firms Solutions In Technology, based in Cwmbran.

Director Simon Lacey said: "The opportunity to sponsor such an exciting and community club sat perfectly with the ethos of our company, we have have been match sponsors at Newport County and will hope Raglan can go on a great cup run too!"

Chairman of Raglan Junior Football Club Owen Batty said: "Everybody involved with the club is delighted with the new sponsorship deals. Without the help and support of the local business, parents, and friends, our club wouldn’t be able to give the children of Raglan and surrounding villages the opportunity of being part of such great teams.

"The three new teams join the established girls team, the Raglan Doves along with Raglan U11 team so the future of Raglan football is looking bright."
