Less than a year since the Chartered Institute of Marketing set up its new Wales Board, two further appointments have been made, completing the expert line-up.

Blackwood-based Ruth Williams, marketing director at digital transformation firm, Restore Scan, plans to use her new role on the board to showcase the benefits of CIM membership.

She said: “Much of my career success is down to my involvement with the CIM, so naturally I’m keen to give something back to the community that’s supported me. I’m hoping to help new marketers develop their skills and take full advantage of all the member benefits to further their careers.”

Cardiff-based food marketing specialist Martin Sutherland has held positions at McVitie’s, Tesco and Somerfield.

He is currently commercial and marketing director at ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University and will bring years of product marketing and customer engagement experience to the board.

The pair will join eight other Wales board members, each with their own marketing specialism, to offer strategic input and operational support to CIM Wales network manager Ceri Rowland under the leadership of the CIM Wales chairman Sameer Rahman.

Chris Daly, chief executive of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, said: “Since the new board was established last year, it has already achieved so much.

"The Wales marketing community has been surveyed and the board have also planned a refreshed events programme to meet the community needs. The board’s work with universities have helped future marketers in Wales develop their talent.

“These latest appointments bring additional marketing expertise and new skills, allowing the board to work that little bit harder and achieve even more to create a better CIM experience for our members and the wider marketing community in Wales.”
