Staff at Superbowl UK Newport have been celebrating after the Crazy Club soft play area at the popular Friars Walk entertainment complex received a gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

The RoSPA’s Play Quality Gold Operator Award is aimed at helping those with play areas work towards a gold standard by focusing on key factors, including management, maintenance, cleanliness, and presentation, with only 10 being awarded so far in 2018.

Crazy Club at Superbowl UK Newport, is a soft play area that provides a safe space for children aged up to 12 to let their imaginations run wild in a fun and engaging environment with specific areas for babies, toddlers and juniors, all in the heart of the Friars Walk.

The team scooped the accolade following on from a rigorous evaluation process that saw two inspections from the RoSPA over the course of the year, and Superbowl UK marketing manager, Daniel Myatt, said everyone involved was over the moon with the recognition.

He said: "The team is thrilled to be presented with this award which recognises our commitment to operating a safe but stimulating play centre. To have our management, cleaning and safety processes praised is brilliant. We thank all our loyal staff and customers for their continued support.”

Friars Walk centre director Simon Pullen said: “Safety is a real priority for parents and I know just how hard the team work to make sure that the Crazy Club is place that they can feel relaxed when their children are playing. To get this award is fantastic recognition for their hard work in doing just that.

"With just 10 being given out this year, it proves that winning one is no easy task and I’d like to congratulate everyone at Superbowl UK Newport.”

David Yearley, RoSPA Play Safety’s playground safety manager, said: “We were pleased to grant the Play Quality Operator Gold Award, which was achieved as the standard of their play areas has been maintained over a two-year period – and even improved.”
