LEADING South Wales law firm has taken possession of its latest property ready for the 2017 Monmouth Raft Race.

Insight Law, which has Newport-based St David’s Hospice Care as its nominated charity, has entered the raft race with an ‘oarsome foursome’ crew.

Monmouth Raft Race organised by Rotary Monmouth will be staged on Sunday, September 2, starting at Monmouth Rowing Club. Organisers say 70 rafts are already entered.

Insight Law raft race team captain Thomas Howells, on a team visit to the St David’s Hospice Care depot in Cwmbran, said: “Insight Law had so much fun last year when we entered the Monmouth Raft Race for the first time that we’ve now returned for seconds. Our raft, Insight Oar, will set off with a crack crew of four.

“We’ll have colleagues, family and friends supporting us on the day and at the end in the Insight Law hospitality tent. We’ve set target of beating last year’s time of four hours and also boosting money raised for St David’s Hospice Care to nearer to the £1,000 mark.”

Insight Law, based at Cardiff Gate Business Park, previously completed a range of events in support of St David’s Hospice Care including a Transporter Bridge abseil, the Moon Walk, Severn Bridge Walk, the Lottery, Big Welsh Brew, Jolly Jumper Day plus regular clothes donations and the Kolor Dash.

Organisers, Rotary Monmouth, who have staged the annual River Wye Raft Race for the past 16 years, will once more raise funds for St David’s Hospice Care through its staging of the 53rd Monmouth Raft Race.

Kris Broome, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “We’re very happy to welcome Insight Law back again this year and look forward to seeing their raft race team and the rest of their supporters at the family fun finish festival at Tump Farm, Whitebrook, on the day.”

The main sponsors for the Monmouth Raft Race event is David Wilson Homes, who are building the new housing development at Kings Wood Gate in Monmouth, and Mandarin Stone.

Siltbuster Ltd, of Monmouth, Harrison Clark Rickerby’s solicitors, from Ross on Wye, and Jolly Clothing, of Monmouth, are each sponsors of an award.

It costs £75 to enter a raft in the race but only a few places remain. For full details about the Monmouth Raft Race visit www.monmouthraftrace.com or call raft race co-ordinators Rotarian Norman Williams on 01291 680016, or Kris Broome at St David’s Hospice Care on 01633 851051.
