Could Wales get home on internet?

FIRST minister Carwyn Jones, pictured, has welcomed the news that top level internet domain names for Wales (.wales and .cymru) are on the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’s list for consideration.

If the authority approves the names websites will be able to use them in the same way they use .co.uk and .com now.

The concept of top-level domains has been entirely wrecked by ICANN. All that will happen is that everybody will be forced to register their trademarks in an ever-increasing number of top-level domains. The end result will be that one can use cocacola.com, cocacola.apple, cocacola.cymru, &c. Absolutely no benefit whatsoever.
