NEWPORT West MP Paul Flynn quizzed prime minister David Cameron on how many new jobs would come to Newport off the back of a new European patent court, part of which will be based in the UK.

Mr Cameron told the commons that the court would bring hundreds of jobs to Britain with a a significant part – covering pharmaceutical and life science industries – based in London.

Mr Flynn asked how many of those jobs would be located in “the home of the brilliantly successful” Intellectual Property Office.

Mr Cameron said he did not know the answer to that question.

Mr Flynn told the Argus he will write to Mr Cameron over the issue.
