A CANDIDATE battling for a seat on Newport city council in the forthcoming local authority election died at the weekend.
Pat Bull, seeking a second four-year term as a Liberal Democrat councillor in the St Julians ward, died on Saturday.
As a result, the poll in the ward has been postponed until a date to be decided by the city council's election returning officer.
Mrs Bull, who lived in Constance Street, had worked for Newport social services, but after retiring in 2004 decided to stand for the Liberal Democrats, having been a party member for some years.
