Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area early this morning we'll head to North Wales. We should arrive in Rhyl in plenty of time for you to unpack and relax before dinner.

Day Two

Today we head to the popular resort of Llandudno, where you'll have plenty of free time to enjoy the beaches, elegant promenades and stylish shops. Alternatively, join our optional full-day excursion and see the spectacular scenery of Llanberis Pass, the pretty village of Beddgelert and the delightful lakeside resort of Llanberis itself. For many, today's highlight will be a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway. Closed in the 1930s, the line has been under restoration since 1997, and it is now possible to travel the 12 breathtaking miles from Caenarfon to Rhyd-Ddu at the foot of Snowdon.

Day Three

Following breakfast, we'll begin a day of memorable rail journeys. The Conwy Valley Line, one of Britain's most beautiful railways, takes us through heather-clad moors and mountains to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Here we'll transfer to the Ffestiniog Railway for the twisting descent through Snowdonia National Park to Porthmadog. After lunch, we'll continue to Portmeirion, featured in the popular 1960s TV series 'The Prisoner'. Here, the ornate, colour-washed buildings and Mediterranean Piazza are surrounded by beautiful sub-tropical woodland gardens.

Day Four

Sadly, we take our leave of North Wales today, and head for home. Depending on the traffic and distance to be travelled, we should be back in the local area by early to mid evening.
