1. Who are you, who do you work for, how long have you worked there and what’s your position?

I’m Carys Vaughan and I work for Archer & Co. I have been a familiar face around this office for about 14 years and I am the sales negotiator and valuer

2. How did you get into this line of work?

I started as a Saturday girl back in my school days, which lead on to me completing my work experience here.

3. What sort of properties does your business usually sell?

The majority of our properties are residential, covering Monmouthshire and West Gloucestershire.

4. What’s in your car CD player at the moment?

My iPhone is currently playing Rupert Holmes 'Escape' – much to the disapproval of my colleagues as when they hear my singing, it gets stuck in everyone’s head for the entire day.

5. What motivates you?

As much as the challenges of working in estate agency motivates me, it really comes down to getting the balance between work and life right. As they say, you work to live not live to work.

6. And what irritates you?

Repetitive noises!

7. What do you think the property scene in the area is like at the moment?

The words I am most using to describe the market at the moment is buoyant and strong.

8. Last film you saw and what did you think?

I watch quite a few films and they are varied, so pin pointing one would very difficult. Something I have been watching recently, which has got me hooked, is ‘Man in the High Castle’, a TV series depicting what life would have been like if Germany had won the war. Watching how different America could have been under the reign of Hitler is eye opening and really rather brutal. I highly recommend watching it.

9. If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?

I have always had a keen eye for design, so developing property and selling it on would be a dream, although I lack the capital to start this venture. Fingers crossed to winning the lottery!

10. Who is your hero?

Andrew McMahon. He is an American singer/songwriter who was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2005 and while battling this disease, he wrote my favourite album of all time ‘Everything in Transit’. After beating the disease, he does a lot of charity work for children and young adults who are diagnosed with cancer and founded the ‘Dear Jack Foundation’.

11. What one tip would you give someone trying to sell their property?

Choose an agent who has the most to offer and will show your property at its best.

12. And what one tip would you give someone looking to buy in the area?

Make sure you use a rated estate agent who has expansive local knowledge.

13. If you could sell any property in the world to anyone, what property would it be and who would it be to?

I would love to sell my grandmother her ideal home, which was a little cottage just outside of Monmouth which she drove past regularly and always wanted to live there. Unfortunately she passed away before she was able to do this. Selling her dream home to her would also mean that I would get meet her, as she passed away before I was born.

‘Perfect’ location, ‘Stunning’ countryside and ‘More for your money’ than surrounding areas, such as Bristol.
