1. Who are you?

I am Paul Fosh and I work for Paul Fosh Auctions, the company that I set up 16 years ago. I am technically the managing director and auctioneer.

2. How did you get into this line of work?

I’ve always loved auctions but got into estate agency almost by accident. I then gained agency experience and moved into auction work when I worked for Halifax Estate Agents before moving to an independent company and then in 2001 setting up on my own.

3. What sort of properties does your business usually sell?

We sell a whole cross section of properties which is why I think we have been so successful. We have four valuers within the company, each one having their own particular skill sets. We therefore get to sell everything from former public toilets to shopping arcades and grazing land to big development sites. The houses we sell can range from just a few thousand pounds right up to many hundreds of thousands.

4. What’s in your car CD player at the moment?

I rarely play CDs now as I upload everything on to my iPhone but I do still buy them and before uploading will play them a few times. It’s actually an unusual one for me and was a recommendation from one of my sons. The CD is by 21 Pilots and is called Blurryface. It’s a bit different to Coldplay, REM and similar stuff.

5. What motivates you?

Challenges, success, the opportunity to make a difference.

6. And what irritates you?

Laziness, people being inconsiderate, poor customer service

7. What do you think the property scene in the area is like at the moment?

It is very strong and buoyant. Prices are affordable for those in work and much better than, say, for similar properties in either Bristol or Cardiff. I wouldn’t change anything at the present time

8. Last film you saw and what did you think?

Star Wars Rogue One. It was pretty good although it’s not really my thing but we watched it as a family over Christmas, it’s become a bit of a tradition to go to a Christmas movie together.

9. If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?

I quite fancy being an explorer!

10. Who is your hero?

Sir Ranulph Fiennes – an epic adventurer.

11. What one tip would you give someone trying to sell their property?

Do their own research before getting agents in.

12. And what one tip would you give someone looking to buy in the area?

See above, research, research, research!

13. If you could sell any property in the world to anyone, what property would it be and who would it be to?

The Welsh Assembly building to Llamau, the amazing charity that works to keep people off the streets and to give refuge to women who have suffered domestic abuse.

14. Three words which sum up why buying in this area is a great idea…

Value, scenery, links
