Q. Dear Dave - I'm at my wit's end. My boyfriend who I've been with for 7 months prefers going out with his mates and getting drunk to spending time with me.
I don't drink, I'm not a girly girl in the way some of his girl friends are and I don't dress like a "slapper".
I think I'm a nice, normal girl but he certainly doesn't appreciate what he's got. I ask him to do different things with me like go to the theatre or visit an art gallery but he's just not bothered.
We even spoke about going away in the summer so I asked him where he'd like to go. His response Ibiza, well I'm sorry I'm just not going there!
I mentioned to him Brittany and the west coast of France because it would be nice and quiet and ideal for couples but he scoffed at the thought.
I'm seriously thinking we're not right for each other.
Do you think the same?
Helena, Caerleon A. Helena, yes I do.
You sound as if you're both at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. I also get the feeling you both realise this but are stopping yourselves from admitting it.
Perhaps as you've taken the time to get in touch maybe you should be the one to call a halt to this relationship as it clearly isn't going anywhere.
You need to spend a bit of time with your boyfriend and explain how you feel and say you don't feel its going anywhere and that its best if you both went your separate ways.
I suspect deep down he'll be quite relieved to hear this but at least it gives you both the chance to move on and find someone you both get on with.
Sorry to sound a little blunt about this but I feel that would be the best course for both of you.
