Newport's Le Pub venue goes up for sale
11:12am Friday 22nd June 2012 in Leisure
LE Pub, on Newport’s Caxton Place, is being put up for sale.
The venue, which has hosted hundreds of bands since opening in 1992 and has become a favourite of local gig-goers, is being sold through city estate agents Davis and Sons, though details have not been formally released.
The news has sparked fears among regulars that a well-loved live music venue might be lost, with the Twitter-sphere (#savelepub) busy with comment and conjecture.
British Sea Power, Kids In Glass Houses and Future of the Left are among the ‘name’ bands to have played at Le Pub, which has also provided vital live opportunities for countless local acts.
A 20th birthday party is planned for next month.
