School’s out for summer and Welsh families are preparing to jet off from Cardiff for their long awaited summer break.

More than 200,000 passengers are expected to travel through the airport over the next six weeks – an increase of four per cent compared to the same period in 2014.

The top ten most popular sunny destinations are: 1. Palma Majorca with Vueling Airlines, Thomson, Thomas Cook and Air Europa; 2. Amsterdam (and connecting to more than 900 destinations worldwide) with KLM; 3. Dublin with Flybe and Aer Lingus Regional; 4. Malaga with Vueling Airlines and Thomson; 5. Alicante with Vueling Airlines and Thomson; 6. Dalaman with Thomson, Thomas Cook and Sun Express; 7. Ibiza with Thomson and Thomas Cook; 8. Lanzarote with Thomson and Thomas Cook; 9. Zakynthos with Thomson and Thomas Cook; and 10. Tenerife with Thomson, Thomas Cook and Ryanair.

Many passengers are opting for late package deals to other popular sunny destinations including Bulgaria with Balkan Holidays, Malta with Belleair, Egypt with Red Sea Holidays and escorted tours of Italy with Newmarket Holidays.

The opening of a new two-aircraft base for Flybe at Cardiff Airport has also added a host of new routes to exciting destinations including Munich, Düsseldorf, Milan, Jersey and Glasgow.
