If you are one of the lucky people that have managed to win the lottery of Euro 2016 and have tickets to see Wales in their first tournament since 1958 then you are going to have to plan your trip.

In all the excitement of Wales qualifying from their group and being caught up in the euphoria of securing your tickets you still have to actually get to the stadium.

The tournament kicks off on June 10 with Wales’ opening game taking place in Bordeaux against Slovakia a day later on June 11.

Now, to get to the beautiful port city of Bordeaux and the other host cities there are a few travel options.

Edwards Coaches offer the chance to take you on an eight-day trip-of-a-lifetime to two of the games, either £789 for the Russia and England fixtures or £869 for Slovakia and England.

The price includes bed and breakfasts and all travel costs to the games - just make sure you don’t forget your ticket.

As well as taking you into the cities allowing you to explore, you can even venture into Paris on the way home.

Edwards Coaches also offers trips for individual games for those who only have tickets for the one game.

See their website for more details.

If you are eager to plan this wild journey yourself whether you are going for one game or all three then there are a few things that will be helpful in your football holiday scheming.

To fly to Bordeaux, the cheapest and simplest method is with Ryan Air from Bristol Airport costing around £360 return. All be it an expensive option but it cuts out any driving or long distance bus rides.

If you do intend on making the 2,694-mile round trip to all of the group stage matches by car or coach, then keep in mind your journey will include more than 40 hours inside the vehicle, whereas plane and train would allow a lot more freedom.

The first stop on your trip is Bordeaux, famous for its wine making and its contemporary art museums on the west coast of France.

With the stadium in the heart of the city, it is the easiest to get to of all the matches.

There are hundreds of wonderful hotels to choose from ranging from two star to five.

The most expensive part of the trip will be the hotels with prices at a premium because of the tournament.

A five-night stay in Bordeaux on average will cost around £500, the Teneo Apparthotel Talence is one of few reasonable priced hotels left with availability.

At £521 for five nights in a high quality three star hotel only a 30 minute walk from the stadium it is defiantly an option to consider.

The trickiest fixture to get to is for some reason is the most high profile, England vs Wales.

This fiery encounter takes place is the small town of Lens Agglo near the French-Belgium border.

The Stade Bollaert-Delelis has a capacity of 41,229 - 4,000 more than the population of the city. With only a handful of hotels in the city it became clear very soon it would be almost impossible to actually get a room.

However Lille, a much larger French city is only a 35-minute train journey away.

With more hotels and an airport, it makes sense to make camp there and travel to Lens for the game.

For those traveling from Bordeaux, Air France can get you there for around £69, while hotels in the area for a two-night stay would cost upward of £220.

Campanile Lille-Roncq hotel is a 20-minute taxi ride from the city centre and would set you back £202 for the two nights checking out on June 17, the day after the England match.

Toulouse, known as La Ville Rose due to the pink terracotta bricks used in many of its buildings, will host the final match of the group stage against Russia on June 20.

Gareth Bale and his teammates will travel down from their base camp in Brittany to Toulouse, which sits near the Spanish border, for what could be the make-or-break game to qualify from the group.

There are two options for people planning on coming down from Lille, flights will cost from £160 where as a five and a half hour train ride only costs £121. A beautiful scenic train ride down through France would add to the amazing journey still allowing you to arrive with plenty of time.

Depending on how long you stayed in the previous cities will determine how much time you spend here but three star Hotel balladins Toulouse Purpan offers four nights for £412. The average prices for this area is around £500 for the four nights and the hotel is only a 20 minute car ride from the stadium.

As for getting home, there is a cheap rail service from Toulouse back to Bordeaux which takes two-and-a-half hours, a midday train would give you plenty of time to get to the airport ready for your flight home.

This trip around France is expensive but for what you are getting you will consider it money well spent in what is a great opportunity. Even with Wales performing as they are who knows the next time they will qualify for a major tournament.

However, your holiday may be extended if Wales qualify from their group which is a very realistic possibility.

If Wales were to finish second in their group then they would play their last 16 match in Nice, which is a seven hour drive from Toulouse.

But if you had the sudden urge to skip the plane home, then you can always book a flight from Toulouse to Nice for less than £50.

It has the potential of being an unforgettable tournament and a historic one for Wales. Chris Coleman’s men will be making their county proud and you can be there every step of the way to witness it.
