Our dog of the week is the adorable Pugsley.

Pugsley is proof, if it’s needed, that there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ stray dog any more. Pounds and rescue centres all over the UK are seeing more and more pedigrees and ‘designer’ breeds being abandoned as the trend for fashionable dogs increases.

Pugsley has only just arrived at Newport City Dogs Home, so it’s possible his owner will come forward to claim him, but there have been no phone calls yet for this little fella and the staff were unable to contact his registered owner by the contact numbers on his microchip.

As time goes on it seems less and less likely that Pugsley’s owners want him back.

According to his chip details, Pugsley is 9-years-old. He is a little bit on the chunky side.

If Pugsley’s owners don’t come forward for him he will be available for adoption from October 11, but the staff will take applications on all incoming dogs immediately after they arrive, so if you’d like to meet him pop up to Newport City Dogs Home centre.

For more information please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop up during opening hours. Between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday.

Please note: the home is closed on Sundays.
