Who are you and Where are you from?

I'm Sera and I'm from Caernarfon in North Wales.

How did you get into playing music?

I learnt to play piano at the age of 8 and started composing melodies on it. I also loved writing poems as a teenager and as time went by I started songwriting. I didn't start gigging until after I'd recorded my first album, which was welsh language and with Sain records. Haven't looked back since!

How would you describe your music style?

It's constantly evolving, but I'm a singer-songwriter. My music works just me and the piano or guitar, or with a full band. I love folk, new country and Americana, so they are all present in my music.

Who are your musical influences?

Mostly female songwriter from The US/Canada such as Alanis Morissette, Brandi Carlile, Heather Nova, Sarah McLachlan, Feist. With my new album though, we are listening a lot to Fleetwood Mac and Norah Jones for inspiration!

What’s been your best live experience?

Probably playing at Venue Cymru for The Next Big Thing, which lead on to playing at Access All Eirias concert. I got to play on a big stage with amazing sound system and with my full band. Such a buzz!

What are you working on at the moment?

I'm in the middle of recording a new album, which will hopefully be out in the Autumn. I'm also busy gigging all over the place and co writing with lots of interesting people. Also planning for my tour of the US.

Where can people hear your music?

Come to a gig - you can find a full list of dates as well as music videos and listen to songs off the EP on my website. www.seraofficial.com. I have a lovely part animated music video for my single, Fireworks which you can watch.

Where can we see you live?

The next month includes Bedford in London on the 24th, Blackwood on the 29th, Snails Deli in Cardiff on April 11th and Wales Millennium Centre on April 12th. I also have an exciting Cafe Nero tour across the UK in April/May.

What can we expect from your forthcoming Blackwood Gig?

I will be playing a solo gig, so leaving the band at home in Caernarfon. I love playing solo gigs because it allows me to try new things and experiment a bit with older songs. I will be playing The Institute's lovely baby grand piano, and will also be doing some on acoustic guitar.
