Hye The then picture shows the old WOOLWORTHS then in Commercial street on the corner of Charles street. Which now list a few shops GILES SPORTS/THE BODY SHOP/SUPER DRUGS ect... When i was a teenager i used to meet my mates & spend hours in the shop as it was huge! We always used the BOOTH & loved the black/white passport photos from it. I rember a big stair case & had loads of fun on the ESCALATOR. It was full of customers. Further on down the chain of shops was C&A a huge clothes shop that closed down a few years back. Also later on in my youth i got a part time job in the GOLDEN KITCEN ( a fish shop owned by ANGELO & YUGO)... I was very disapointed when a shop assitant told me it was closing down as the lease had run out & reopening into a smaller shop in the INN SHOPS then being built. The OLD Worthworths always stayed in my memories as the BEST SHOP EVER!!! They were the best days. SALLY HOBSON. from Llandeveaud....
