The death of music legend Phil Everly brought a wave of tributes across social media last weekend.

Phil alongside his brother Don scored many hits including Wake up Little Susie, Walk Right Back and Cathy’s Clown in the USA and UK throughout the 1950s and 1960s and was regular visitors to the UK since a successful reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1983.

The Everly’s influence touched many acts including The Beatles and the pair were recently the subject of a tribute album entitled Foreverly recorded by Norah Jones and Green Day’s Billy Joe Armstrong.

The Everly Brothers visited St David’s Hall in 2005 as former Argus reviewer Nigel Corten remembers: “The show started off with their voices as young teenagers singing on a radio show from the Fifties flooding the auditorium, then, midway through the song, they strolled on stage and harmonised with their younger selves. It was electric and cranked up a hundred notches from there. Brilliant.”
